A child who isn\u2019t interested in being with or communicating with other people for most of any given day isn\u2019t developmentally ready to understand and use words. <em style=\"font-weight: 300;\">All<\/em>\u00a0communication begins with being social. Once a child learns to love being with you, he forms the foundation necessary to help him understand and use language. You\u2019ll learn how to interact with him so that he\u2019ll learn to interact with you.\u00a0<br style=\"font-weight: 300;\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><strong>Chapter 2 <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The Easiest Beginner Routines and includes step-by-step instructions for 22 fun play routines. These are my go-to games when I need to get a child\u2019s attention in the beginning sessions when he\u2019s not with me yet.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"> At the end of the chapter, I list toys I use every day in speech therapy.\u00a0<br style=\"font-weight: 300;\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><strong>Chapter 4 <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">It contains words and instructions for 33 Fingerplays and Songs I use in play with toddlers and young children. As in the previous chapters, you\u2019ll find a section for Child\u2019s Goals and ways to expand the game into your daily lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><strong>Chapter 5<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Solutions for Problems during Play, you\u2019ll find suggestions for new things to try when what you\u2019re doing isn\u2019t working. Problems include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Places toys in mouth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Avoids interaction with people<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Doesn\u2019t like toys<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Lines up toys rather than playing<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Holds toys instead of playing<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Repeatedly pushes buttons<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Prefers TV\/videos to people and toys<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Sensitive to touch and sound<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Uses parent\u2019s hands to operate toys<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Odd, repetitive, or self-stimulatory behavior<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Throws toys<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Constant motion<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Short attention span<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Aggressive<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Tantrums and meltdowns<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Difficulty with transitions<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Doesn\u2019t like to share or take turns<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Lost in own words instead of playing or listening (using jargon or echolalia)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><strong>Chapter 6<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Includes my list of references and recommended reading for parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">This is a great parent training tool!
