These seven areas are the &#8220;big picture&#8221; encompassing all the areas a child may be struggling with, and these will be your key components for establishing a comprehensive speech therapy treatment plan to improve a child&#8217;s overall communication skills.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Help! I&#8217;m overwhelmed!<\/h4>\r\n<p>Because looking at several different interventions at one time can be overwhelming, especially for parents who are starting to work with their own children at home, I have included a chart so you can easily see the &#8220;big picture&#8221; as well as one-page summary sheet for each of the seven outcomes so that you can read through all seven areas and determine where you&#8217;ll start.<\/p>\r\n<h4><strong>I can help you plan!\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p>Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s included on the one-page summary sheets:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>A brief description of the outcome.<\/li>\r\n<li>A list of considerations to help you decide if this approach is appropriate for a child&#8217;s treatment plan. You&#8217;ll learn when an approach is especially useful and when it&#8217;s usually not useful.<\/li>\r\n<li>A list of questions to help you think about the child&#8217;s strengths and needs in each area.<\/li>\r\n<li>A step-by-step outline to get you started.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4><strong>Where Do I Begin?<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve selected the specific Outcome (or two) you&#8217;ll work on first, flip to that chapter and get going! At the beginning of every chapter, you&#8217;ll find another copy of the one-page summaries to refresh your memory followed by:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Detailed discussion of the outcome so you understand why you&#8217;re working on this area. (If you&#8217;re a therapist, this is the information you&#8217;ll need to share with parents!)<\/li>\r\n<li>Instructions for implementing the intervention.<\/li>\r\n<li>A more specific list of questions in &#8220;workbook&#8221; format so that you can jot down your answers for contemplation during planning.<\/li>\r\n<li>Additional recommendations for selecting a starting point, if needed.<\/li>\r\n<li>Step-by-step directions for choosing early targets and activities (with WORD LISTS galore-specifically geared toward toddlers who have also had language delays!)<\/li>\r\n<li>Troubleshooting and what to try if things aren&#8217;t working and you need to &#8220;back up.&#8221;<\/li>\r\n<li>Guidance for knowing when a child is ready to move on to a new outcome or when it&#8217;s best for you to stick with the outcome for a while longer.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Once you&#8217;re finished planning, I&#8217;ll teach you what to do!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>I&#8217;m going to do my best to explain <em>what to do and how to do it<\/em> so that you feel empowered as you put together a plan for a child! As therapists and parents, we need ideas (and lots of them!) to help us know where to begin and then to keep us on track and moving forward. Treating apraxia can be hard, but I can help.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Order your copy today!<\/h4>\r\n<h3>WHICH APRAXIA WORKBOOK IS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?<\/h3>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/teachmetotalk.com\/product\/the-apraxia-workbook-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Apraxia Workbook 1<\/a> is for working with children who are nonverbal or minimally verbal.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Nonverbal children are those who do not use words to communicate with other people.<\/li>\r\n<li>Minimally verbal children are those over 24 months of age who do not use at least fifty words.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/teachmetotalk.com\/product\/the-apraxia-workbook-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Apraxia Workbook 2<\/strong> <\/a>is for working with children who are verbal.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Verbal children are kids who are already talking and using words as their primary way to communicate.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>If you feel your child is &#8220;in-between&#8221; workbooks 1 &amp; 2, I&#8217;d recommend you start in <a href=\"https:\/\/teachmetotalk.com\/product\/the-apraxia-workbook-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Apraxia Workbook 1<\/a> and work your way into The Apraxia Workbook 2 unless your child is near a single word vocabulary of 50 words.
